Valentino Scussel
Founder & Designer
At Valentino Scussel Design, unique pieces are created that stand out through their qualitative and aesthetic longevity. All furniture is developed in the Zurich atelier and produced mainly by hand in collaboration with local craftspeople.
Valentino Scussel designs furniture with clear structures and a direct approach to materials. His work uses simple constructive principles that allow objects to be adjusted, repositioned, or used in different ways. What appears minimal at first reveals itself through interaction. Each piece is precisely conceived, functionally built, yet carries something distinctive – a color, a shape, a subtle quirk.
Tables shift in size, lamps can be redirected, elements can be exchanged. Instead of mass production, strong individual pieces are created that shape spaces without being loud.
Since his first designs in his Zurich workshop, Valentino has followed a clear approach: good craftsmanship, honest materials, and design with conviction.
“It’s about bringing objects into your space that are more than just objects. Things that bring joy, that you enjoy using, that feel good and that you connect with. You know where they come from and how they are made – and over time, you can truly make them your own.
The furniture and lighting are designed to be interacted with. You adjust them, reposition them, use them in different ways. Through this use, a relationship forms – and over time, the object becomes something of your own.
It’s not about simply placing something in a room. It’s about creating things that can be changed, that invite use, and that move with you. Things you touch, move, and understand.”
